It's been a while since I offered a Special Print Edition. With spring just about here and warmer days ahead, I think this image from the archives, made on a special island in the Caribbean, is a good place to start.
Bequia is a small, beautiful jewel of an island in the Grenadines that I visited numerous times in the 1980s. The island has changed dramatically since then and it now has its own airport, but 35-40 years ago the only way of getting there from London was to fly to Barbados, stay overnight, and then get a small island hopper plane the next day to St. Vincent, the nearest island with an airport. There, you'd board The Friendship Rose and sail the 9 miles to Bequia. Today, The Friendship Rose is a fancy charter schooner sailing throughout the Grenadines, but then it was the only ferry between the two islands, carrying food, mail, and general supplies.
Like many others, I haven't travelled for over two years now, but this image offers an invitation to think about warm, peaceful places.
Palms, Bequia is printed in polymer photogravure in an edition of 20. The print is on warm white Hahnemühle Copperplate paper and printed in a warm black Charbonnel ink. All prints are hand-printed by me.

“… a technical wizard like Keith Taylor deserves a shout-out just for the prowess evident in his platinum-palladium print “Rain Cloud, Badlands,” an evocation of turbulent sky and rocks that has the brooding intensity of a 19th-century photogravure.”
Mary Abbe, Star Tribune, Minneapolis, MN
“Waves is the simplest and the most beautiful image in the show. Opaque waters like slabs of slate reflect the glow of a sky hung with clouds.”
Hannah Dentinger, Duluth Art Institute, Duluth, MN
“In 20 perfectly printed photogravures, he eloquently suggests the hypnotic appeal of this strange quest to crack a cosmic mystery.”
Mary Abbe, Star Tribune, Minneapolis, MN
